The museum is set in an early 19th century Town Hall. Gallery displays are mounted in the former caretaker’s cottage and in the area previously used to house the town’s horse drawn fire engine. The collections largely cover social history and the development of the local area. Outside in the museum courtyard a forge, wheelwright’s bench and agricultural equipment recall occupations which supported the local economy.
